GARRET HUNT NOWELL
Garret is staff forester of Mitchell Forestry and Wildlife Services, Inc. He has worked in the forestry and wildlife profession since January 2004.
Garret graduated from Mississippi State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management.
Garret recently graduated from Mississippi State University in 2009 with a Master of Science degree in Forestry Biometrics. His research dealt with forest biometrics in the area of large-scale forest inventories. This particular area of study resulted in extensive knowledge of GIS.
Garret began his forestry career in January of 2004 with Hood Industries, Inc, a forest products industry based in south Mississippi, where he served as a procurement analyst while still obtaining his degrees at MSU. Specific areas of analysis included logger production, mill production, and timber sales. He also maintained SFI certification for all their mills. He gained valuable experience in the forest products industry through this employment.
In January of 2009 Garret came to work for Mitchell Forestry and Wildlife Services as a GIS specialist and Biometrician. He actively manages the GIS database as well as cruise design and analysis. He is a Registered Forester, a Wildlife Biologist, and a Certified Tree Farm Inspector.
